Gromette is my dog, a 17 pound Jack Russell Terrier who is now pushing 6 years. Her name was inspired by the tales of Wallace and Gromit. Because of her gender, we worked in a more feminine spelling of the name. Gromette is also a step-dog to my wife, who has a dog of her own. Funny how even after 5 years of dating, we still have step-dogs. (It's okay since her dog loves me more).
Heater: At first I thought it was strange that Gromette liked to burrow to the foot of the bed under the covers. Now, both my wife and I appreciate the extra heat to keep our ankles warm. Periodically, Gromette will get hot and will scoot up and put her head on the pillow.
Playing: Sometimes it takes a dog to remind you what it's all about.
Hanging out: It's pretty awesome to have an animal that can hang out with you wherever.
Driving to the dog park: Gromette started sitting on my shoulders when there were too many people in the car. Now she likes to sit there for the view while we drive, which keeps my neck warm in the chilly convertible.
Empathy: Ah yes, dogs also tire of hearing squeaky babies.
Being cute: In life, being cute helps you get away with stuff. I've unfortunately been on the other side of that too many times.
